The Texas Department of Transportation has proposed allowing single occupant vehicles to travel in the existing HOV lanes on I-635 from US 75 to I-30 – for a fee. The proposed project would create “express lanes” and collect tolls on single occupant vehicles along that stretch of LBJ, which extends east of Central Expressway.
The project will cost $9 million, with construction to begin in 2015 and last about one year.
TXDOT hosted a public meeting to discuss the changes, which will include construction of toll gantries, signage, and pavement widening to permit enforcement. To learn more, you can visit the TXDOT website here.
I wish there was a toll lane on most of the Dallas metroplex highways. It is ridiculous the traffic delays from all of the construction vehicles, semi trailers and huge slow moving trucks. Who knows how much this wasted time commuting cost our local economy in lost production.
