Have you been meaning to pay that parking ticket or water bill, but just can’t seem to get down to City Hall to take care of business? You’re obviously not alone. Like some sort of bureaucratic food truck, the city is hitting the streets with City Hall on the Go, a truck that brings the paperwork to you.

“City Hall on the Go can provide any of the services that 311 offers over the telephone,” said 311 Community Engagement Coordinator Stephen Walker in a news release. “We can help people get birth certificates, garage sale permits, adopt a pet or register their animals.”

But like so many bureaucratic offerings, it has its early kinks, most noticeably in how the posted weekly schedule cuts off, making the calendar difficult to read as you see below:

“We’re working on making the calendar more user friendly,” says Walker, who was kind enough to send us the more-readable calendar at the bottom of this article (note: schedule is subject to change). He also explained the color coding, which is also not included on the website, as green for park and recreation centers, blue for libraries and yellow for neighborhood events.

The white-and-blue van will head out to several different neighborhoods each day and will provide all the documents needed to do your city business. They’ll even give you a shady place to fill it all out. The vans are equipped with laptops, tablets and wifi so city workers can demonstrate how to interact with the local government online, too.

The van is also a place you can stop by to ask questions, whether it’s about code compliance or how to report loose dogs. City workers will be on hand, just like when you visit City Hall downtown but without the hassle of traffic and parking. City Hall on the Go can be scheduled to attend neighborhood events for homeowners associations and the like as well.

As you can see, it’ll be in our neighborhood at the Walnut Hill Recreational Center today, May 13, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m; and Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Reverchon Park.
