Have you noticed the upgrades on the Northaven Trail? It’s all in an effort to make the popular walkway safer for walkers, bikers and drivers.
The city answered the Friends of Northaven Trail’s request for additional safety precautions within the St. Michaels and Edgemere intersections. They have painted a defined crosswalk area and new saw-tooth yield signals, as well as installed new yield signage.
The Friends of the Northaven Trail is a volunteer organization for the support, maintenance and beautification of the trail.
The Northaven Trail currently serves as a commuter and recreational bike and hiking trail for the neighborhood residence. The trail currently runs through the Oncor power line easement between Northaven Road and Royal Lane. The city hopes to ultimately have the trail stretch from Central Expressway to Denton Drive, connecting with the White Rock Creek Trail on the east and Irving’s Campion Trail on the west.
