The YMCA is an important part of keeping our neighborhood healthy, and what better way to support it than with a walk or run before a big Thanksgiving meal? Thousands will participate in the organization's annual 5K or 8 mile race at 9 a.m. Nov. 25 in downtown Dallas, and you can register for it right here.
Every month we profile a neighborhood resident who's also a fan of our Facebook page. In our September issue is Preston Hollow neighbor Allen Dickey, 45, who's an attorney along with his wife, Jennifer. They have two children, ages 6 and 2.
Check out the transcript from today's live chat with Wine Curmudgeon Jeff Siegel. He fielded questions about wine such as, where did the stigma with screwcaps start, anyway?
Every month we profile a neighborhood resident who's also a fan of our Facebook page. Featured in our August issue is Far North Dallasite Louisa Meyer, a dedicated DISD volunteer and a retired accountant from ARCO (now BP). She's been married for 28 years to Jim, whom she met at SMU, and they have two sons — Ben, 22, who just graduated from Yale and is returning to W. T. White to teach math and coach; and John, 18, who was W. T. White's salutatorian and heading to Washington University in St. Louis to study business and play football.
