Q: Meadows Museum is free on May 18

[caption id="attachment_18941" align="aligncenter" width="864"] Santiago Calatrava's "Wave" adorns the front of the Meadows Museum at SMU.[/caption] See an early Salvador Dalí surrealist masterpiece and many other treasures of the Spanish art world for free at the Meadows Museum on May 18. The event is part of the Association of Art Museum Directors’ Art Museum Day, in which about 150 museums across the nation will participate. Along with the Meadows' permanent collection and visiting masterpieces , the museum at SMU is exhibiting "Process and Innovation: Carlotta Corpron and Janet Turner," and "Between Paris and Texas: Marie Cronin, Portraitist of the Belle Époque," as well as the Dalí masterpiece, "L’homme poisson."

Her acoustic show at Uncle Calvin’s begins at 8:00 p.m. and costs $15-$18 to attend. Saturday is your last chance to check out AIA Retrospect at NorthPark Center. The annual exhibit, hosted by the Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), allows local firms to showcase their work and discuss the future of design in our city. North Haven Gardens will offer a yoga class this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for the first time ever. From then on out, you can practice in the garden every other week. $15 per person.

Listen to her Joni Mitchell-esque songs at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15-$18. Interesting fact: Synodinos “spends her Friday afternoons teaching guitar and songwriting to incarcerated women in Travis County,” according to unclecalvins.org . Introduce your little ones to the work of Henri Matisse this Saturday at NorthPark Center. As part of the mall's ArtRocks! program, volunteers will help kiddos create Matisse-inspired masterpieces. There’ll also be a puppet show, story time and sing-a-long. Arrive at 12:30 p.m. Sweet potatoes are undeniably on trend. The hippest burger joints offer them in fry form. Why not grow your own? Plan strategically and you just might make it to all three of these events. Northaven Trail hosts My Park Day in the Virginia Cook Respite Area. We’re pretty pumped to help plant flowers, nosh on food from the Hamburger Man, pet zoo animals and more. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Also on Saturday is W.T. White’s annual street fair. Several student groups will sell treats as a way to raise funds for their respective organizations. There’ll be music, games and food trucks too. It’s all happening in the school’s breezeway. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Here’s one for the indoor types. Check out Fossil’s new digs on the first floor of NorthPark Center, between Dillard’s and Macy’s. The Theodore will provide complimentary cocktails and treats and blogger Lynsey Eaton will be on hand to offer fashion advice. From noon to 3 p.m.

Q: It's (almost) My Park Day on Northaven Trail

My Park Day is April 2 (that’s this Saturday, if you can believe it) and things will be bustling on Northaven Trail. Head to the Virginia Cook Respite Area at 9 a.m. to help plant butterfly-luring flowers, chat with representatives from City Hall or grab a new read from Dallas Public Library’s Bookmobile.
